Management Team Bios

The Jackson Superior Electric management team consists of Founder/Co-owner Dan Jackson, Co-owner/Office Manager Mary Jackson and Garrett Jackson who is lead electrician and a Generac certified technician. Their team of electricians provides quality work and friendly customer service.

Dan Jackson, Founder/Co-Owner/Electrician

Dan’s family moved from Charlottesville, VA, when he was only 6 years old and he’s lived in the greater Raleigh area ever since.

Upon graduating from high school, Dan went to Wake Technical Community College where he studied electrical installation/maintenance and electronic engineering. He was also part of a co-op internship program at IBM in Research Triangle Park.

After earning his two-year degree and certification, Dan worked for the City of Raleigh for three years and was responsible for the wiring of traffic signals.

In 1985, Dan earned his electrical license and opened Jackson Superior Electric with his wife and co-owner Mary Jackson. Approaching nearly 40 years in business, Dan continues to service electrical customers, as well as train and mentor the electricians who work for his company.

Dan and Mary have been married since 1980. They have two grown children: Meghan, who is married with five children and serves on the Franklin County School Board; and Garrett, who has two children, is a Youngsville firefighter and  is Jackson Superior Electric’s certified Generac standby generator technician and warranty specialist.

Mary Jackson, Co-Owner/Office Manager

Mary Jackson was born in Missouri and moved to Raleigh when she was in 9th grade. She met her husband Dan Jackson when she was 16, they were married, and will celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2020.

While in high school, Mary got a job at a dental lab and was trained to be a dental ceramist who crafted crowns and bridges. She was mentored by the owner and at the age of 25 became co-owner of Dental Ceramic Laboratory in Raleigh.

She owned and operated the business for 13 years and sold it in 1990 so she could spend more quality time with her two young children – Meghan, born in 1984 and Garrett in 1987.

Mary became office manager for Jackson Superior Electric, which at that time was in three buildings on the same property as the Jackson home in Youngsville. This gave Mary the opportunity to balance work and family life.

While Dan concentrated on his work as an electrician and hiring staff, Mary helped grow the business and acquire new customers. The business was incorporated in 1993.

Throughout the years, Mary has represented Jackson Superior Electric as a member of the chamber of commerce and various networking groups. Today, when she’s not working, most of her free time is spent with her seven young grandchildren who all live nearby.

Garrett Jackson, Head Electrician/Generac Certified Technician

Garrett grew up in his family’s business working after school and during the summers when he was a teenager. He learned on-the-job through training from his dad, Dan, and the team of electricians who worked for Jackson Superior Electric.

In 2001, when the company added the installation and maintenance of generators to its service offerings, Garrett did the prep work required before the generators were installed. Garrett says he has always been mechanically inclined and enjoys working with motors. Generators involve wires and motors and were a natural attraction to Garrett.

He is a Generac certified technician who is trained for installation, warranty and repair of generators. Garrett receives hands-on training every two years that includes written tests, troubleshooting and generator performance. In 2018, he was trained and recertified at the Generac headquarters in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Garrett’s other love is firefighting. At the age of 16, he became a volunteer firefighter with the Youngsville Fire Department. He took online classes for state certification in Firefighting 1 & 2, HazMat EMT training and countless other courses over the years.

When he graduated from high school, he enrolled in Wilson Technical College, taking classes twice a week while working full time for Jackson Superior Electric. In 2007, he earned a two-year associate degree in Fire Science.

In 2009, he was hired by the Wake Forest Fire Department, Station 1 in downtown Wake Forest. Today, he is a Captain—all while also working full time for Jackson Superior Electric.

When not working, Garrett enjoys outdoor activities with his family—wife Chelsea, daughter Cadence born in 2012 and son Owen born in 2016. They reside in Youngsville, not far from Jackson Superior Electric headquarters.
